Tortillas In Space

Last year at the MassChallenge Awards Ceremony we were lucky enough to have George Whitesides, the CEO of Virgin Galactic, as the keynote speaker. Virgin Galactic is an amazing company that’s making space travel available to anyone who buys a ticket.

It got us thinking about space and actually there are some great connections between space and our favorite thing: the tortilla.

Tortillas are actually a common food eaten by astronauts. Eating in space can present a challenge. Liquids have to be kept in tubes. Anything that crumbles will make a much bigger mess in zero gravity. Can you imagine trying to make a sandwich when none of the ingredients will stay together?
